Attending Vision Awards in Miami - So Much Inspiration!

I recently traveled to Miami for the Vision Awards, where Bentley Prince Street was one of the sponsors. Miami never ceases to inspire me! The city seems primed for a major return to commerce!

We sponsored this year’s Vision Awards, along with Floor Focus Magazine, Centiva, Crossville Tile and Johnsonite, because it gives designers and architects an opportunity to win thousands of dollars and exposure, while celebrating the integration of flooring, design and architecture. The Most amazing part of this particular contest is it celebrates the floor. I’m so proud of the sponsors because unlike any other contest, that I know of, designers can submit all of their work - it does not need to have one of the sponsors’ products in it. Yes you read that right! Props to my company and all the sponsors. That, dear readers, is really celebrating design! Name another contest where the sponsors are not assured they will win! That is really honoring design.

While I was in Miami, I teamed with our local rep Reade Palmer to meet with Carolina of Ba-Haus design, with whom we are working on some major projects. Trump Casino with an amazing custom, and other projects featuring Global Vista’s Wiltons. Carolina continues to be one of our strongest supporters with innovative and stylish design!

Then we met with Insight Design to preview Domestic Alchemy.  Insight designed the L’oreal Corporate offices in Miami with our Iconic carpet tile and Reade knew they’d love Domestic Alchemy! Inaki shared his incredibly diverse interests with us over dinner. What a wonderful way to get to know not only a person but also to learn about all the things Miami has to offer. I am always shocked at how many designers travel internationally there as if it’s going across the street!

Once again Miami serves up a mega dose of inspiration! Thank you everyone for your gracious time with me there.

Vision awards will return again next year and I would encourage everyone to start photographing your projects now! Hope to see you in Miami in 2011!
